The Virginia State House of Delegates agreed to House Resolution No. 295, commending the Dulles South Food Pantry, on February 27, 2015 in Richmond. We are so honored and would like to thank Delegate Ramadan for introducing the resolution. In May, he and the administration and staff of Liberty Elementary School presented the commendation to the pantry at a special ceremony. Liberty also presented the pantry with $800 in funds as a result of their Back Pack Bling program, and Delegate Ramadan matched their contribution with an additional donation of $400. You can read more about Liberty’s Back Pack Bling on our website’s June Blog. Stop by the pantry any time to see the commendation certificate, which is proudly displayed. We are so appreciative of the support of all levels of the Dulles South Community, from the youngest students to our State Legislators. To see a summary, go to www.virginiageneralassembly.gov and click on bills and resolutions and type in hr295. Thank you!
All Hands on Deck
Volunteer Spotlight: Our thanks go out to Jenn M. and Kerrie N., our volunteer coordinators who work hard each month to ensure that we have plenty of trained volunteers to serve our guests and stock food on our shelves. We appreciate everything you do!
Volunteer Needs: The marketing team is looking for an HOA Marketing Liaison to help us reach out to the various HOAs in the area. If you’d like to help, contact firstname.lastname@example.org. The driver team is also in need of drivers. If interested, please email email@example.com. See the volunteer tab on our website or the volunteer button at the bottom of this newsletter for current volunteer opportunities and the volunteer training schedule. Check back often as new positions are added regularly.
Food Drive Stars: Thanks to American Heritage Girls, Clean the World ONE Project, Chinmaya Mission Church, Girl Scouts Troops 6374 & 2652, and the South Riding Stingrays for holding food drives last month. They collected over 650 lbs of food.
