All Hands on Deck

Volunteer Spotlight: Thank you to our pilot Backpack Program Team – Jenn M., Susan H., and Cathy G., who have spent many hours ensuring that students at a local elementary school who need food assistance receive supplemental food on the weekends and extended breaks, allowing children to focus on their studies instead of their empty bellies!

Volunteer NeedsPlease see the volunteer section of our website for current volunteer opportunities and the volunteer training schedule. Check back often as new positions are added regularly.

Board Highlights

image001Last month, President Charlene Jones, spoke to the 7th graders at J. Michael Lunsford Middle School, to teach them about hunger in America. The 7th grade history teachers at JML tied history lessons about The Great Depression and The Dust Bowl to what is happening in America today.  Students learned that there are 15.9 million food insecure children in the United States today, and were challenged to do something to address this issue. Many students have raised money or are collecting donations for the pantry. Way to go JML!
