Love in Action: Introducing Community Connections |
February is a season that invites us to think about love and, at the Pantry, loving our neighbors means showing up in meaningful, practical ways every day. It means listening without judgment, offering support with dignity, and connecting with our neighbors while helping them navigate challenges with compassion. We’re excited to share that our Self-Sufficiency Program is now called Community Connections. While the name is new, the heart of the program remains the same. It reflects what this program has always been about: building relationships and connecting neighbors to resources, services, and support for stability and long-term well-being. At the center of Community Connections is our Program Manager, Suzanne Lyles, who works one-on-one with guests to understand their unique circumstances, build trust, and address needs beyond food. Guests receive individualized support and referrals to trusted community partners so they can move forward with confidence. This consistent, compassionate presence reflects what loving our neighbors looks like in practice, especially during life’s most difficult moments. This Valentine’s season, we’re grateful for the opportunity to put love into action, by strengthening connections and caring for our neighbors as a community. “I am writing to share the wonderful news that I got a job. This achievement would not have been possible without the invaluable support and resources you so generously provided. Your support has played a critical role not only in helping me prepare for a job but also in restoring a sense of hope and stability for my family. I remain deeply grateful for your assistance during what was a challenging time.” ~Pantry Guest |

| Introducing Our Newest Board Member Julia Safina began her career in auditing before discovering her passion for healthcare, where the work felt more connected to people and purpose. After 11 years at KPMG, she moved into HCA’s Assistant Chief Financial Officer (ACFO) program, drawn to the opportunity to learn hospital operations in a more hands-on, collaborative environment. Today, as CFO of StoneSprings Hospital, she values how sound financial strategy supports caregivers and strengthens patient care. Her role on the Dulles South Food Pantry board is especially meaningful. Growing up with modest means, Julia understands the stability that access to nutritious food can provide. She’s grateful for the opportunity to support a mission that helps families build a foundation for well‑being and hope. |
