Driving Fresh Hope: Celebrating Our New Van |
On July 31st, the Pantry celebrated the launch of its first refrigerated cargo van at a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Staff, volunteers, and local leaders, including Dulles District Supervisor Matt Letourneau, and community partners from the Brambleton, Virginia Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints all attended. |

Our new van represents a transformational shift for Pantry operations. When we opened our doors twelve years ago, we served just seven families. Today, the Pantry serves hundreds of local families every week. Our new van allows us to streamline our food recovery efforts and how we address growing needs. We can now more safely and efficiently rescue thousands of pounds of fresh, surplus food every week from our grocery store partners and local farms. |
“This van is a symbol of what’s possible when people come together to care for their neighbors,” said Executive Director Micki McMann during her opening remarks. “We value our incredible volunteer drivers who have sustained our food pickups for so long using personal vehicles. This dedicated van is a huge step forward in our operations, strengthening our ability to respond to the growing need.” |
| |
We are grateful to share that this milestone was made possible through a generous grant from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, as well as community donations from local businesses, community groups, and individual supporters whose ongoing trust powers our mission every day. Speaking on behalf of the Brambleton Stake, Reagan Roney highlighted the collaborative spirit behind the achievement: “Today is another amazing example of how a community came together to care for its neighbors. This van will help provide essential food to those suffering from food insecurity. May we all continue to seek opportunities to provide relief to those in need.” Check out our new van in action! |
