We are excited to share several updates to DSFP’s Board of Directors as we officially kick off our new board term here at the Pantry. First, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to Neha Jadhav and Julie Knowles, who have stepped down from the board. Neha has given years of dedication to the Pantry, including her past tenure as the DSFP Board President. Julie brought fresh insight and enthusiasm during her time with us. We are grateful to both Neha and Julie for their service and contributions to our community. As we look to the future, we are thrilled to welcome three outstanding new members to our board of directors: Julie Anna Barker, Victor Sanvido, and Doug Kunc. Each of them bring a wealth of unique experiences, fresh perspectives, and a shared passion for our mission. We are excited for the energy and insight they will bring to our team as we work together to serve our neighbors. Led by our continuing executive team, the 2026-2027 DSFP Board is ready to strengthen our support for our neighbors, steward the generous gifts of our donors, and work alongside our incredible volunteers. Backpack Buddies 2025-2026 Year in Review |
|
|
|
| We are incredibly proud to have sustained our reach across our partner schools this year! The Pantry supported 25 schools at least once with 50,495 pounds of food, which included 10,362 Backpack Buddies bags and 37,485 snacks to counselors. We were also able to continue offering student summer support this year. This was made possible thanks to a generous mini-grant from the Community Foundation for Loudoun and Northern Fauquier Counties’ Forward Turn Youth Philanthropy project. |

A special shout out to SAIC, Arcola United Methodist Church, Capital One Bank, and Van Metre who each provided at least one full week of Backpack Buddies bags this past school year. These organizations sponsored fun team-building packing events for their organizations that made a huge impact on our operations. Did you know? We accept donations of used, clean paper, plastic, and reusable grocery bags that we use for our Food Distributions. And, we really need bags right now! For a great summer activity, consider hosting a donation drive for us! Reach out to your friends, family members, and neighbors to gather their extras. Just be sure all bags are clean, flatten them before donating, and then drop them off at the Pantry during regular donation hours. And, earn volunteer hours for coordinating the drive! |

| Traveling this summer? Save your unused travel-sized hotel toiletries and donate them to the Pantry! You can also get your kids and neighbors involved by hosting a Toiletry Kit Packing Party. Simply pack baggies with travel-sized shampoo, conditioner, soap, lotion, floss, and toothpaste, and drop them off during our donation hours. |

| Help keep our shelves stocked with snacks this summer! Organize a snack drive with your workplace, neighborhood, sports team, or faith community. Since school is out, we are focusing on full-size snack items to distribute directly to our guests. Sign up here to provide Snack Kits! OR, feel free to just grab extra snacks during your family grocery run and drop them off at the Pantry anytime during regular donation hours. |
